| 2. Oktober 12 Uhr ab Park Fiction Ausflug: Mit Claas Gefroi zum Baakenpark Sogar die Hafencity macht mal etwas nicht falsch. Wir sind jedenfalls verblüfft über die ausgebuffte Planung von Atelier Loidl für den Baakenpark. Der funktioniert ziemlich gut. Und er „packt Probleme an“ (wie es aktuell so gerne heißt), wie wir sie am Neuen Ufer zwischen Fischmarkt und Landungsbrücken auch haben: Steigender Tidehub, steigende Hochwasser, immer stärkere Nutzung durch immer unterschiedlichere Leute u.v.m. Müsst Ihr erlebt haben! Deshalb haben wir den Architekturexperten Claas Gefroi gebeten, uns auf einen Ausflug dorthin zu begleiten. Gefroi ist Sprecher der Hamburgischen Architekt*innenkammer und Autor bei konkret und Fachzeitschriften wie die Deutsche Bauzeitung, für die er eine profunde Kritik des Parks verfasst hat. Los geht es am Samstag den 2. Oktober um 12 Uhr. Treffpunkt ist Park Fiction. Hin bringt uns der praktische und rollstuhltaugliche 111er Bus. | Review 1 Sit ’n‘ Skate Falls ihr den Vortrag mit Sit ’n‘ Skate verpasst habt, hier ein paar Gedanken dazu: Es gibt Treffen, bei denen etwas Neues beginnt, ein Projekt eine unerwartete Richtung einschlägt. Dies könnte so ein Treffen gewesen sein. Das liegt hier gar nicht so sehr daran, wieviele Leute da waren (es war ordentlich besucht), sondern wie unterschiedlich die Leute sind, und wie dringlich das Thema ist, und wie entschlossen und ergebnisoffen es behandelt wird. Jedenfalls hat der Abend uns sehr viel beigebracht: Lisa und David haben auf sympathische und punkige und lustige Art ganz viele Themen ansprechen können, die eigentlich ein neues Denken eröffnen – es ging nämlich einerseits um Park Fiction Kernthemen (Aneignung der Stadt, Autonomie, Selbstverwaltung, Verspieltheit). Aber nicht mehr wie früher, um Fantasien von Zugriff auf alles immer und überall, sondern darum, die Welt für das jeweils schwächste Glied in der Kette, für die Abweichung von der Norm zu erschließen. Inklusion aber nicht als Architektur der Entschärfung, der TÜV-mäßigen Verhinderung und des techno-bürokratischen Verbots, sondern als respektvolles Einfühlungsvermögen, als sich-Kümmern und sich-gegenseitig-Ausbilden – und als abenteuerlustiges Befähigen. Es stand eine Vision eines aktiven/aktivierenden Begegnungsraumes für wirklich alle im Raum. Eine Inklusion, die sich konsequenterweise auf andere Arten der (rassistischen, klassistischen, sexistischen etc.) Ausschlüsse übertragen ließe – die aber besonders leicht zu verstehen ist, etwa wenn David das Phänomen der auf ihn projizierten niedrigen Erwartung schildert, die viele Ausgegrenzte auf ihrem durch die Mehrheitsgesellschaft zugewiesenen Platz hält. Wir haben das Gefühl, dass sich damit ein wichtiges und tragendes Kernthema der zukünftigen Planung herausschälen könnte, und dass der Vortrag so etwas ähnliches war, wie eine inoffizielle Themen-Gründungsversammlung. Bezogen auf die Zentralität und herausgehobene Bedeutung des Ufers (die beiden wiesen uns darauf hin, dass die Sportstätten der Inklusion eigentlich alle am Stadtrand liegen, und damit gar nicht als Begegnungsort funktionieren können), steckt darin auch ein politisch spannende Herausforderung. |

| Review 2 Gimme Shadow Mehr Dialog als Vortrag war der 5 Stunden Rundgang mit Marco Clausen. Mit Stationen in vielen Ecken des Parks und abschließendem Regenschirmmeeting am Ufer wurde ein Gewächshaus für eingewanderte Pflanzen, Wassernutzung und -speicherung und Schattenmöglichkeiten diskutiert. | online Participation de Luxe – Parteien zur Europawahl Die zertretenen Plakate in den Strassen künden davon – am Sonntag muss Wahl sein! Und wer vom Park Fiction aus auf das Dock schaut, sieht vor der 500 Millionen-Yacht des Stahl-Milliardärs Alexei Alexandrowitsch Mordaschow das gigantische Banner der Grünen. Zu unserer eigenen Überraschung geben auch wir dieses Jahr eine Wahlempfehlung ab. Unsere ist allerdings schon über 20 Jahre alt… „Schau mal, mein Vetter hat mir ein Video aus Deutschland geschickt!“ Die Erste Internationale Europawahl ist eine subversive Aktion von Park Fiction, Kanak Attak und Wohlfahrtsausschuss. Schöne Alltagsszenen aus dem superdiversen St. Pauli der späten 90er durchsetzt mit Wahlspots. Zweckentfremdet und neuvertont, verwandelt Songül Bulut Schröders Kanzlergehabe in ein Angebervideo von Vetter Sükrü, entlarvt Ninako Takeuchi den FDP-Clip als H&M Werbung, gibt Francoise Cactus den rechten Republikanern volle Breitseite. Visionär: Was Knarf Rellöm und Peta Devlin 1999 prophezeiten, könnte 2021 wahr werden: „CDU – We are through!“. |

| Ausstellung in Leipzig The Future of Cities. Not for Granted. Die Ausstellung mit dem grundsätzlichen Titel in der HALLE 14 – Zentrum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Leipzigs Baumwollspinnerei läuft noch bis ins nächste Jahr und wird mit einem Symposium im Januar enden. „Verspekulieren wir die Zukunft der Städte? Was kann die Architektur in Verbindung mit Stadtplanung und im Austausch mit der Bevölkerung zu einer neuen Kultur des Zusammenlebens, die die Herausforderungen durch Klimawandel, Migration und Digitalisierung zusammendenkt, beitragen?“. Die Ausstellung kombiniert Arbeiten aus sehr unterschiedlichen kulturellen Feldern, um die weitgespannte Thematik in den Blick zu bekommen. Kadir van Lohuizens gnadenlose fotografische Bestandsaufnahme der steigenden Meeresspiegel zeigen Katastrophen in reichen Städten wie Miami, den Untergang der Millionenstadt Jakarta und ganzer Inselstaaten im Pazifik, di bis Mitte des Jahrtausends untergehen werden. Keiichi Matsuda dokumentiert prekäre Wohnbedingungen in Korea. Dann sind aber auch Gegenmodelle zu sehen – das bestechende Beispiel eines Schulgebäudes von Anna Herringer in Bangladesh und ihre Zusammenarbeit mit Näherinnen. Studio Forage entwickelt individualistishe Phantasien um die „dumb smart city“ auszutricksen. Profunder das Office of Urban Transformation / Isola Art Center, die wir bereits 2003 für die „Unlikely Encounters“ nach Hamburg eingeladen hatten. Mit dem Begriff der „Fight Specificty“ hat Bert Theis einen künstlerischen Ansatz entwickelt, dem die Ausstellung einen ganzen Lesesaal widet. Unser Beitrag zu Planung als Plattform um Beziehungen herzustellen, historisch und unter pandemischen Bedingungen gehört zu diesen widerständigen Praxen der Erneuerung. „It’s like Group Material, but developed by the people who actually did it.“ |

October 2 12 pm from Park Fiction Excursion: With Claas Gefroi to Baakenpark Even Hafencity doesn’t do something wrong for once. In any case, we’re amazed at Atelier Loidl’s savvy planning for Baakenpark. It works pretty well. And it „tackles problems“ (as they like to say these days), just as we have them on the New Waterfront between Fischmarkt and Landungsbrücken: Rising tidal range, rising high tides, more and more use by more and more different people, and much more. … We asked architecture expert Claas Gefroi to accompany us on a trip there. Gefroi is the spokesman for the Hamburg Chamber of Architects and an author for konkret and trade journals such as the Deutsche Bauzeitung, for which he has written a profound critique of the park. A must-see! The tour starts on Saturday, October 2, at 12 noon. Meeting point is Park Fiction. The 111 bus, which is practical and wheelchair accessible, will take us there. And we will have packed lunches prepared for you. Free of charge! Review 1 Sit ’n‘ Skate In case you missed the talk with Sit ’n‘ Skate: the evening had the character of a meeting for us, where the direction of this project is turning in a new direction. Sometimes it’s not so much how many people were there (it was well attended), but how different the people are, and how urgent the topic is, and how resolutely and openly it is treated. Anyway, the evening taught us a lot. Lisa and David, in their personable and punky and funny way, were able to address quite a few issues that actually open up new thinking – namely, on the one hand, it was about Park Fiction core themes (appropriation of the city, autonomy, self-governance, playfulness). But no longer, as before, about fantasies of access to everything always and everywhere, but about opening up the world for the weakest link in the chain in each case, for the deviation from the norm. Inclusion, however, not as an architecture of mitigation, of TÜV-like prevention and techno-bureaucratic prohibition, but as respectful empathy, as caring for and educating each other – and as adventurous empowerment. There was a vision of an active/activating meeting space for truly everyone. An inclusion that could more consistently be applied to other kinds of (racist, classist, sexist, etc.) exclusion – but which is especially easy to understand, for example, when David describes the phenomenon of low expectation projected onto him, which keeps many excluded people in their place assigned by mainstream society. We have the sense that this may reveal an important and sustaining core theme of future planning, and that the talk was something akin to an unofficial theme-founding meeting. In relation to the centrality and prominent importance of the shore (the two pointed out to us that the sports facilities of inclusion are actually all located on the edge, and thus cannot function as a meeting place at all), there is also a politically exciting challenge in this. |

With stops in many corners of the park and a final umbrella meeting on the shore, the discussion included a greenhouse for immigrant plants, water use and storage, and shade options. Misappropriated and re-dubbed, Songül Bulut transforms Schröder’s chancellor posturing into a bragging video of cousin Sükrü, Ninako Takeuchi exposes the FDP clip as an H&M ad, Francoise Cactus gives the right-wing Republicans a full broadside. | Exhibition in Leipzig The Future of Cities. Not for Granted. The exhibition with the basic title in HALLE 14 – Center for Contemporary Art in Leipzig’s Baumwollspinnerei will run until next year and will end with a symposium in January. The themes that threaten the future of cities are very broad. The exhibition deals with climate crisis, migration and right to the city, care and architecture, digitalization, surveillance, dumb smart cities and counter-concepts, to name only the most important topics. On display will be Anna Herringer’s collaboration with Bangladeshi seamstresses, documentations of Korean precarious housing conditions and the first flood-threatened communities and cities from wealthy Miami to impoverished islands in the Pacific, the Office of Urban Transformation and Isola Art Center, whom we had already invited to Hamburg for „Unlikely Encounters“ in 2003.
